Scott -

Steel Legion REBOOT. Stripping and repainting all my Legion models for use as, that's right, Allies. Blood Angels followed by a Leman Russ squadron? Oh yes. Pictures soon to come.

Also, photos of Blood Angels and Dwarfs. Both Brandon and I have been quite busy, sorry for the lack of updates.

Scott -

EA and Bioware are creating a Heroes of Newerth/League of Legends style game called Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes. Apparently it has been in open beta testing since April... Seems to be more based around character vs character team battles... special objectives and overall killingness. Not sure if there will be NPC mobs.

you can check it out here http://wrathofheroes.warhammeronline.com/

I for one will be trying this out... what harm can be done by free play?

Scott -

Congratulations to Brandon for besting his foes at the Games Workshop Painting Competition! Truth be told, there were a handful of well painted models (not just ours) and Matt Sterbenz (Golden Daemon Winner) made an appearance with his wonderfully painted entry. In all fairness, I believe both Brandon and I were shocked Matt didn't pull 1st place, but overall "cool" and "brownie" points garnered him the win. Still well deserved for the time, effort and quality!

So the rest of the day was fill with gaming, learning the new 6th Ed. 40k rules and getting up to speed on 8th Ed. Fantasy. I'll give you a quick overview of the battles.

40k - Fairly new to 6th, still revamping my Blood Angels army... I was running 10 assault marines, 8 terminators and a librarian in 750pts. Played one match against a Space Wolf player who easily dominated me. The turn play by play is pretty much as follows. Overall, unsatisfied with my list. I need more models.
Turn 1 SW - Moved into central locations
Me - Did nothing, deep striking army
Turn 2 SW - Claimed tower in middle of board with devastators, held positions in terrain
Me - Rolled for reserves, all arrive. IMMOBOLISED (yes caps.. frustrated) his vindicator
Turn 3 SW - Vindicatored 5 terminators, took out 3 assault marines with plasma guns
Me - Beat a 10 man squad of tactical marines in CC, 1 ended up fleeing.. failed Sweeping Advance
Turn 4 Sw - Eliminated my terminators and Librarian with plasma fire. Gunned down 2 assault marines. Then decided to assault with his 1 guy for a "last stand"
Me - Charged his other 10 man squad of tactical marines, 2 of my own guys getting overwatched...
Turn 5 SW - Proceeded with CC, didn't kill my sergeant
Me - Continued CC for kill points, by the end of the turn my sergeant died but took 4 marines with him

Fantasy - Ok, this list on the other hand... super cheesy. I ran it as lame as possible. x36 Thunderers, x2 cannons, Organ gun and a Master Engineer. Easily the lamest list possibly for 1000pts of Dwarfs.

My first game was with Brandon. Easily the person i was most afraid of simply because of Ethereal units and Dwarfs dont have a lot of options for equipping squads with magical weapons. Ended up getting the win with some lucky outcomes
Turn 1 Brandon - Moved forward. Not a lot at this point, Magic was easily dispelled
Me - Fired some pot shots at his Hex Wraiths with cannons, taking 2 of them
Turn 2 Brandon - Moved forward again, still no magic due to awesome dwarfyness.
Me - Obliterated his Blood knights. Very positive for them to be removed, i was scared of them hitting my line
Turn 3 Brandon - Charged a regiment of thunderers, destroying them in CC forcing them to flee. His Hex Wraiths left at the table edge to come back the next turn. No magic (still!)
Me - Fired everything at his block of 40+ skeletons... took a chunk out, not sure how many maybe 10?
Turn 4 Brandon - Hex Wraiths come in from table edge, movement ended no charge declaration. No magic
Me - Grapshot at the unit of Hex Wraiths, wiping them! The scariest unit was gone! More shots at skeletons, not sure how many died
Turn 5 - So at this point Brandon was done... he wanted to quit but we kept going for "realistic" kill point values... in the end I won taking 730 kill points with me into the next game!

So i'm not going to list out the other fantasy battles because they both went pretty much the same way. The last opponent I played was fun though because it could have turned very south for me if Luke at not called Time for playing. His large chunk of clan rats were about to charge my line. Very fun matches all around though.

In the end I bested the competition in Fantasy with my Parking Lot Dwarfs. Honestly speaking, there were not a lot of competitors in the event for Fantasy but i ended up with 75%+ kill points in all my matches so it still ended well. I will relish the day for the new Dwarf book so i can add variety to my list... but for now, cheesy ball tactics are the best.

Brandon-

Did a painting session with Scott earlier today and decided the Silver Demon Entry was finished. Mostly because I was getting a little 'to give a mouse a cookie' on it and kept seeing more things I could work on with no end in sight.

Also if you like the piece, have some time, and a facebook account please vote for it here as this well help it be a finalist in the competition: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=4777840929007&set=o.140851116006056&type=1

If you got even more time and more love please also like my good friends Matt Sterbenz and of course Scott Sanderson's pieces as well, as they are very well deserving pieces.

More on the piece; i'm quite satisfied with how the blending on the armor turned out but feel I could have kept going, and I do feel that the photograph didn't capture a lot of my work. I really need to learn how to take better photos...

Scott-

Hey guys, its been awhile (a few days hah). I finished my GW Scottsdale Silver Daemon Competition and i'd like to share it with you! I'm quite pleased with how he turned out. Win worthy or not, i feel that he is a proper and good center piece for my Blood Angels. Yet now it's time to finish the rest of the army.. Oh no!

If you like it, please go to http://www.facebook.com/GWScottsdaleTowneCenter and vote for it under the Birthday Silver Daemon Competition. Thanks guys!

Reposting some pictures of my Haqq Islam collection, these have been done for a while and more pictures and angles can be seen on my dakkadakka gallery (http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/user/21291-dewd.html), but I wanted to have some pictures of them uploaded here as well.

Brandon-

I have made some small progress on my Silver Demon submission; battle damage retouched gubbins (heh), added edge highlighting. There is still some work to do before I want to call it done but I like how it is progressing so far.

Also included are some Haqq Islam miniatures from Infinity I recently finished and a group shot of my painted Haqq Islam collection (the lewd figure is Motoko Kusanagi inspired got to love that thermoptic camouflage), a old Dark Eldar Haemonculus I painted a while back in a night as a sort of challenge from a friend, and an Imperial Fist Space Marine I did in a timed competition for the opening of Games Workshop's store in Entrada de Oro (the marine has been based since the competition).

Also please visit my dakkadakka paint log and gallery: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/422739.page

Scott - One step closer to submitting my entry for the Games Workshop Scottsdale Silver Daemon competition. I am pleased at the outcome of the "glowing eye" effect. Not sure why i didn't do the book along with the other parchment gubbins (extras, bits, bobs and things that make the model cool), but I suppose next time it will give me an extra incentive to concentrate on it since it's a large piece to the model.

Brandon-

These are two of my test models for my Eldar army and my current submission for the Scottsdale Games Workshop's Silver Demon contest.

For my Eldar I plan to have each style of guardian be painted a different craftworld, as to not grow tired of painting a single color scheme. I have selected Saim-Hann for my storm guardians and Yme-Loc for my defender guardians/ weapons platform teams. Revitalizing my Eldar army is my current focus, and I would like to see heavy progress by years end--life permitting.

The Silver Demon submission piece I had originally deemed finished, but now looking back I feel that it lacks  any interesting or unique details and probably is not the apex of what I could deliver on a miniature. I plan to add some more detail and time to this piece to hopefully polish it up enough to be a contender for the competition.

I also have a small gallery up on dakkadakka.com (http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/user/21291-dewd.html). Although I rarely post in the forums I like to upload photos and see the comments and ratings I receive.

Better lighting for photos, and photos of past work are coming.

Scott - So this is my Librarian  from the Space Hulk box, set to be in my Blood Angels army.
The blue is as follows -
Layer 1 - 2/1 Kantor Blue/Chaos Black
Layer 2 - Kantor Blue
Layer 3 - Caledor Sky

The last stages will be a thin wash of Drakenhof Nightshade followed by a final highlight of Caledor Sky and P3 Morrow White mix. Can't wait to get this one done!
Hello! Welcome to Brandon and Scott's miniature page. We have been hobbying for over 12 years and just wanted to share with you our work, experience and growth into the world of painting, hobbying and all around goofing off.
